Komani aerobics club all set for marathon
The Tyron Milas Aerobics Club of Komani will compete at the Correctional Services Aerobics Marathon, in West Bank in East London on Saturday.
Fitness trainer Tyrese Nkonyana said this was the club’s fourth competition this year.
“Our first competition was with the Mthatha Fitness Aerobics Club on Freedom Day in April. We ended third in the hi-lo category which comprises a fun cardio workout, with basic dance moves to music.”
Nkonyana said in June the team competed at the Makana Aerobics Marathon in Grahamstown.
“We came first for katabox which is kick boxing and in the hi-lo categories. We were second in the step category.”
Their third competition was at Skoko Aerobics Club Marathon on Women’s Day in Aliwal North earlier this month. The team claimed first place in the hi-lo category, second in katabox and third in the step category.
Nkonyana said it took time before an athlete could develop their level of physical strength and fitness to master aerobics. “At this level, aerobics is not merely about losing weight but about the passion. Our step, hi-lo and katabox training are at an international standard.”
Aerobics helped people to become active and more healthy.
There were currently 22 members in the club with the next competition in Bloemfontein and in Kimberley.
The club will host its own event in Komani in November.
