Two Boks nom­i­nated for top IRB award

SPRING­BOK full­back Wil­lie le Roux and eighth­man Duane Ver­meulen were named among five can­di­dates yes­ter­day for the IRB World Rugby Player of the year. The other nom­i­nees were Ir­ish fly­half Jonathan Sex­ton, New Zealand lock Brodie Re­tal­lick and wing Ju­lian Savea. The win­ner will be an­nounced later this month. The IRB World Rugby Player of the Year is one of 12 cat­e­gories of awards, in­clud­ing the World Rugby Coach of the Year, World Rugby Team of the Year, Women’s Player of the Year, Sevens Player of the Year, Women’s Sevens Player of the Year and Ju­nior Player of the Year.
