THE NOBEL Peace Laureates Summit, which was initially due to take place in Cape Town, has been relocated to Rome, summit organisers said yesterday. “The summit was suspended earlier in September after the South African government failed to issue a visa for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who had hoped to attend the 14th world peace summit in Cape Town,” summit spokesman Navdip Dhariwal stated. The Tibetan spiritual leader, who has failed to secure a visa for a third time in five years, has accused South Africa of “bullying a simple person”. – Sapa
