The Star Early Edition - - NEWS -

TAXI commuters in Soweto must make alternative travelling arrangements today. Members of taxi associations were due to march in the city centre to hand in a memorandum to the City of Joburg municipality and the provincial departments of transport and community safety. Drivers were due to meet at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown at 10am before marching. Their concerns include receiving e-toll bills even though public transport service providers are exempted from the fees, alleged harassment by traffic officials and not having designated lanes and drop-off zones. Normal taxi operations are due to resume tomorrow. – Nontobeko Mtshali
