SA’s most stylish people to be honoured

THE 10 winners of the annual South African Style Awards have been announced. This year’s awards will take place at a dazzling red-carpet event in the new fashion court in Hyde Park Corner in Joburg on Sunday night.

The Most Innovative Style award goes to fashion stylist Chu Suwannapha, while internatio­nally acclaimed Albertus Swanepoel wins Best Fashion Designer.

In the arts there are three categories. Former KTV presenter turned actress and socialite, Roxy Burger, receives the award for Most Stylish Performing Artist in Television. More recently she was the host of Strictly Come Dancing and at the end of last month joined the other smug presenters on Top Billing, both of which are on SABC3.

Former Isidingo actress, Jay Anstey, who joined Scandal, wins Most Stylish Performing Artist in Film. The Most Stylish Performers in Music winners are Mafikizolo, who always strive to up the fashion stakes at every performanc­e and appearance on the red carpet. They are synonymous with great style.

Joelle Kayembe wins Most Stylish Model with those eyes and that body, while Most Stylish Media Personalit­y goes to former Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam.

A blast from the past is Most Stylish Couple winners for 2014, Zuraida Jardine and hubby, Josh Lindberg. On the more serious side of the world, Most Stylish Business Personalit­y goes to Natasha Sideris, owner of the Tasha’s restaurant chain. She’s taken these restaurant­s to another level of good food with 12 in South Africa and one in Dubai.

Then South Africa’s current favourite lady, Thuli Madonsela, deservedly wins Most Stylish South African Icon.

After the ceremony on Sunday, VIP guests will be invited to dine at the Southern Sun Hyde Park Hotel. They will also get to see the YSL Beaute Installati­on.

This is the 17th annual SA Style Awards. Judges are handpicked from around the country and asked to nominate two people they believe to be outstandin­gly stylish, from tomorrow’s stars to last year’s trendsette­rs.
