Coal pro­ducer boosts pro­duc­tion

KEATON En­ergy Group, the emerg­ing coal pro­ducer, im­proved pro­duc­tion and rev­enue in the six months to Septem­ber com­pared to the pre­vi­ous pe­riod last year, the company said yes­ter­day. Group rev­enue rose by 10 per­cent to R783 mil­lion com­pared to R709.8 mil­lion in the pre­vi­ous com­par­a­tive pe­riod. Keaton said its Vang­gat­fontein op­er­a­tion de­liv­ered 1.20 mil­lion tons of washed 2and 4-Seam ther­mal coal to Eskom dur­ing the six months to Septem­ber com­pared to 1.14 mil­lion tons in the pre­vi­ous com­par­a­tive pe­riod. How­ever, head­line earn­ings a share de­creased to 13.7 cents in the six months to Septem­ber from 19.4c in the pre­vi­ous pe­riod last year.
