WHITE maize futures for delivery next month slid 2.1 percent to R1 961 a ton by the noon close on the SA Futures Exchange yesterday, the biggest daily drop since August 4.

The prices were down for the third day, the longest run since October 27.

Yellow maize dropped 2 per- cent to R2 016 a ton, also the biggest decline since August 4.

Wheat fell 0.3 percent to R3 663 a ton, falling for the third day, the longest run of losses since October 21.

Maize fell for a fourth day on the Chicago Board of Trade, extending a sell-off to a one-week low yesterday. – Bloomberg
