Qual­i­fi­ca­tion fraud rife

FRAUD­U­LENT qual­i­fi­ca­tions are a prob­lem on the African con­ti­nent, the South African Qual­i­fi­ca­tions Au­thor­ity (Saqa) said yes­ter­day.

“Ev­ery­one bat­tles fraud­u­lent qual­i­fi­ca­tions, and African coun­tries are also faced with the grow­ing prob­lem,” Saqa chief ex­ec­u­tive Joe Sa­muels said.

The au­thor­ity is hold­ing a two­day sem­i­nar in Pre­to­ria, which be­gan yes­ter­day, on qual­i­fi­ca­tions fraud in Africa. The sem­i­nar is ti­tled Build­ing Trust: Pro­mot­ing Gen­uine Qual­i­fi­ca­tions in Africa Through Ef­fec­tive Ver­i­fi­ca­tion. – Sapa
