Enforcer says farewell

The Star Early Edition - - OPINION & ANALYSIS -

AS SPORTSMENgo, John Phillip Botha is arguably one of the country’s most decorated athletes. In his professional career, the Enforcer has won almost everything possible in rugby. Often bloodied and bruised, with glee smeared across his face as he rumbled into contact, his methods were regularly criticised even though his commitment to the Green and Gold can never be questioned.

In the pantheon of Springbok greats, Bakkies will sit at its pinnacle, and his retirement from rugby brings an end to 85 matches played for the love of the game and the pride of South Africa.
