Please help us get out of this trap

The Star Early Edition - - NEWS -

I WAS very happy to read your article recently in the Daily News regarding a public consultation process in the timeshare industry.

Thank you so much for your assistance in this regard. We pray and hope that we can unlock ourselves from the devious means that these timeshare clubs have used to trap us.

In February 2013 I was contacted by an agency contracted to a vacation club based in Durban and advised me that I had won a prize and in order to claim my prize, I had to attend a short presentation in Westville Durban.

On February 8, 2013 I attended the presentation with my wife. They demonstrated on video all the luxurious resorts throughout the country. We were advised that once we bought into the timeshare, accommodation was available at any time we preferred. We were advised that the value of our investment would always grow.

After the presentation we were directed to a personal consultant who addressed himself as Mr Wanda. He took us through the whole process and advised us that the points we purchase will always increase in value; accommodation was available at any time we booked and according to our choice.

He also promised us that once the purchase was fully paid for and if at any time we decided to sell our points, their repurchase department would immediately repurchase them; that we could bank points and use them for overseas holidays.

Once the contract was signed, he shook hands with us and presented our package with the gift enclosed. We got home and opened the package and found our prize was a “Dream Break” 25 percent discount vacation coupon for seven nights in an area that is not to our satisfaction and very far away.

It has been four years and
