Paper a mouthpiece for ANC

The Star Early Edition - - LETTERS - Chris Lombard

THE STAR newspaper has become the new mouthpiece of the ANC, as witnessed in the January 6 edition.

The paper carried input regarding the upcoming ANC 105th-year anniversary festivities on no fewer than five of its pages – 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7.

The new top guy recently said in this newspaper that he was going to vigorously drive transformation of the paper by appointing blacks to key editorial, journalistic and other positions within the newsroom.

I have no issue with this move.

However, I cannot understand the excessive exposure of the ANC’s 105th anniversary festivities; or is it, as suggested in the first paragraph, that the direction in which The Star appears to be moving is to unashamedly support the ANC?

The reports border on propaganda.

Any other opposition party would have received scant recognition of a similar event.

Come on, chaps, keep the newspaper as apolitical as possible. Springs
