The Star Early Edition - - NEWS -

THE official cause of death in the passing of Carrie Fisher, pictured, and Debbie Reynolds has been confirmed.

The Star Wars actress – who died a day before her mother Reynolds – suffered a heart attack, which caused her death.

However, the Los Angeles county coroner’s office will be doing more tests to confirm what caused the heart attack. Reynolds, who was 84 when she died, suffered an intra-cerebral haemorrhage, which was caused by a ruptured blood vessel that led to bleeding in her brain. The death certificate also lists hypertension as an underlying factor in her stroke.

The news comes after the pair were remembered during a special tribute at the Golden Globes on Sunday evening .

Fisher’s half-sister Joely Fisher attended the ceremony and was both “proud and sad” when she saw the sweet tribute for the late actresses.

“I think of their unparalleled and incomparable careers (when I see tributes like this). I decided to make it out of my house today to (honour) my girls,” she said.

The mother and daughter were laid to rest next to each other at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

There are plans for a public memorial later in the year. – Bang Media
