SOUTH Africa im­ported 32 421 tons of yel­low maize in the week to Jan­uary 6, the SA Grain In­for­ma­tion Ser­vice said on its web­site yes­ter­day.

All yel­low maize im­ports came from Ar­gentina.

The coun­try ex­ported 8 386 tons of white maize to its neigh­bours and ex­ported 5 399 tons of the yel­low va­ri­ety. It im­ported 4 043 tons of white maize from the US and Mex­ico.

South Africa recorded no wheat trade in week.

Mean­while, white maize for de­liv­ery in March climbed as much as 2.8 per­cent to R3 647 a ton on the SA Fu­tures Ex­change yes­ter­day. – Bloomberg
