Two held in drug busts
POLICE in Mitchells Plain have arrested a 50-year-old Nigerian for possession of tik (crystal methamphetamine) with a street value of R12 500, heroin and cash, Western Cape police said yesterday. They responded to a radio call for assistance in Portland, Mitchells Plain, at about 2pm on Saturday, said spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk. The officers received information that the suspect was about to drop off the tik in Rocklands. He was searched at the police station, where 50g of heroin and R6 500 were found on him. In another case, on Friday, officers received information that drugs were being stored at a house in Eastridge, Mitchells Plain. They searched the premises and discovered dagga, 25 straws of heroin and 20 packets of tik. A 45-year-old woman was arrested.
