Russian nuclear deal signed
Cairo and Moscow have completed harmonisation of one of the four key commercial contracts on the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt’s north, Egyptian Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker el-Markabi said yesterday. “The ministry has completed (negotiation) of a construction contract with the Russian Rosatom company,” Shaker said. Russia and Egypt signed an inter-governmental deal on the construction of the Dabaa plant, consisting of four nuclear power units, 1 200MW each, on the Mediterranean coast, in November 2015. It is set to become the largest construction project by Russia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.
