Rus­sian nu­clear deal signed

Cairo and Moscow have com­pleted har­mon­i­sa­tion of one of the four key com­mer­cial con­tracts on the con­struc­tion of the Dabaa Nu­clear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt’s north, Egyp­tian Min­is­ter of Elec­tric­ity Mo­hamed Shaker el-Mark­abi said yes­ter­day. “The min­istry has com­pleted (ne­go­ti­a­tion) of a con­struc­tion con­tract with the Rus­sian Rosatom com­pany,” Shaker said. Rus­sia and Egypt signed an in­ter-gov­ern­men­tal deal on the con­struc­tion of the Dabaa plant, con­sist­ing of four nu­clear power units, 1 200MW each, on the Mediter­ranean coast, in Novem­ber 2015. It is set to be­come the largest con­struc­tion pro­ject by Rus­sia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.
