Egypt se­cu­rity talks

PRES­I­DENT Ab­del Fat­tah al-Sisi met Egypt’s Na­tional De­fence Coun­cil on Sun­day to dis­cuss se­cu­rity de­vel­op­ments and the army’s op­er­a­tions in the restive Si­nai Penin­sula.

Prime Min­is­ter Sherif Is­mail and the min­is­ters of de­fence, the in­te­rior, for­eign af­fairs and fi­nance at­tended the meet­ing, along­side the armed forces’ chief of staff and the head of Al-Mukhabarat Al Ammah (Egyp­tian gen­eral in­tel­li­gence).

Counter-ter­ror­ism ef­forts in the Si­nai were dis­cussed as well as mea­sures un­der­taken to pro­tect the bor­ders. Agree­ment was also reached on pro­long­ing Egypt’s armed mis­sion in the Gulf and the Red Sea. – ANA
