Egypt security talks
PRESIDENT Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Egypt’s National Defence Council on Sunday to discuss security developments and the army’s operations in the restive Sinai Peninsula.
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the ministers of defence, the interior, foreign affairs and finance attended the meeting, alongside the armed forces’ chief of staff and the head of Al-Mukhabarat Al Ammah (Egyptian general intelligence).
Counter-terrorism efforts in the Sinai were discussed as well as measures undertaken to protect the borders. Agreement was also reached on prolonging Egypt’s armed mission in the Gulf and the Red Sea. – ANA
