WHITE maize for delivery in March, the most active contract, declined as much as 3 percent to R3 214.20 a ton on the SA Futures Exchange yesterday morning.
The price was a record low since contract started.
Meanwhile, soya beans for March was down 0.7 percent to $10.60 a bushel (R5 280 a ton) on the Chicago Board of Trade yesterday afternoon.
“Last week we traded some panic (in view of) too much rains in Argentina, but the market seems to have fully digested the potential impact as of now,” Matt Ammermann, commodity risk manager at brokerage INTL FCStone in Minnesota, said. – Bloomberg
