WHITE maize for de­liv­ery in March, the most ac­tive con­tract, de­clined as much as 3 per­cent to R3 214.20 a ton on the SA Fu­tures Ex­change yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The price was a record low since con­tract started.

Mean­while, soya beans for March was down 0.7 per­cent to $10.60 a bushel (R5 280 a ton) on the Chicago Board of Trade yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

“Last week we traded some panic (in view of) too much rains in Ar­gentina, but the mar­ket seems to have fully di­gested the po­ten­tial im­pact as of now,” Matt Am­mer­mann, com­mod­ity risk man­ager at bro­ker­age INTL FCS­tone in Min­nesota, said. – Bloomberg
