Amazon offers to settle probe
AMAZON was poised to settle an EU probe into its e-book deals with publishers by changing controversial clauses, regulators said. Amazon would not enforce clauses requiring publishers to offer it terms as good as or better than those they had with other e-book distributors and would avoid them in future, the European Commission said, outlining details of Amazon’s offer to settle the investigation. Amazon’s pledge will last five years and will allow publishers to end contracts that link e-book discounts on Amazon to e-book prices on other online stores. – Bloomberg
