Visa laws spoil our trip around NZ

The Star Early Edition - - LETTERS - Karryn Trethowen

I AM writing from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.

We are being terribly inconvenienced by the new visa law which none of us knew about because it seems to be a ‘tit for tat’ reaction to New Zealand introducing visas to South African passport holders.

We are all New Zealand passport holders. We now have to fly to Canberra by appointment only and ‘present’ ourselves personally to apply for a visa. It only lasts for 90 days too. So every time we go to visit our son in South Africa we will have to go through this absurd and expensive rigmarole!

We want the tourism industry to know about this!!

Our friends from South Africa cannot join us on a five week trip around New Zealand next week, as they could not get visas in time. Queensland, Australia
