Rib injury hinders Rory’s preparations
THE rib injury Rory McIlroy picked up during the South Africa Open two weeks ago will hinder his preparation for the US Masters in Augusta in April. The Masters is the only Major the four-time Major champion has not won, and donning the green jacket would complete the career Grand Slam for the Northern Irishman. The first tournament back for McIlroy is expected to be the WGC-Mexico Championship – a month before the Masters. After the SA Open, which ended on January 15, McIlroy had scans which revealed a stress fracture of the rib which would take six weeks to heal.
