Cheaper i20 1.4 auto launched

The Star Early Edition - - NEW MODELS - MOTORING STAFF

HYUNDAI has introduced a cheaper version of its 1.4-litre i20 with an automatic gearbox. The new 1.4 Motion Automatic comes in at R249 900, which is R25 000 less than the same model in fancier Fluid trim.

Both models use the same 74kW/133Nm petrol engine and fourspeed auto transmission, but the lower Motion derivative does without electric rear windows, folding mirrors, fog lights, a luggage net and rear parking sensors. It also gets 14-inch steel wheels in place of 16-inch alloys, and gets a simpler air-conditioner instead of the Fluid’s full climate control.

Standard fare in the new Motion Auto also includes a six-speaker sound system with USB and Aux inputs, Bluetooth phone pairing, remote central locking and steering controls.

All Hyundais come standard with seven-year/200 000km warranties, and the 1.4-litre i20s get three-year/60 000km service plans.

Motion cuts 25K from upper Fluid spec.
