China-EU deal close
BERLIN: China and Germany have agreed to speed up negotiations on a China-EU investment agreement, visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said yesterday.
The investment deal will benefit the two-way opening-up of the Chinese and EU markets and promote trade liberalisation and investment facilitation, Li said.
Merkel said the signing of the treaty would be a good start for negotiations on an EU-China free trade agreement.
Berlin is the first leg of Li’s Europe tour. He is set to visit Brussels to meet EU leaders. Xinhua
