Chief ex­ec­u­tive set to re­tire early

GRINDROD chief ex­ec­u­tive Alan Olivier has de­cided to take early re­tire­ment ef­fec­tive from July 31 to pur­sue per­sonal in­ter­ests. The listed in­te­grated lo­gis­tics ser­vice sup­plier said yes­ter­day that Olivier would re­main avail­able to the ship­ping di­vi­sion in a con­sult­ing ca­pac­ity. The group added that in­de­pen­dent non-ex­ec­u­tive chair­man Mike Hank­in­son will act as ex­ec­u­tive chair­man in the tran­si­tional phase, with the sup­port of group fi­nan­cial di­rec­tor An­drew Waller. It said the board would be­gin the process of ap­point­ing a new group chief ex­ec­u­tive and no­tify the mar­ket in due course. Hank­in­son thanked Olivier on be­half of Grindrod’s board for his val­ued con­tri­bu­tion to the group over the past 31 years, the last 10 years as chief ex­ec­u­tive. – Roy Cokayne
