FOUR people were injured, one critically, when they fell off the back of a moving bakkie at the intersection of the R50 and R25, about 30km outside Delmas in Mpumalanga, on Saturday night, paramedics said. ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the four lying on the side of the road. The bakkie had come to a halt on the opposite side of the road, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said. “Paramedics found that one of them, a 16-year-old boy, had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. The other three patients sustained moderate injuries.” The patients were treated and the critically injured boy was provided with advanced life support interventions, before they were all transported to OR Tambo Memorial Hospital. The driver swerved to avoid another vehicle when he lost control, throwing the patients off the back, Meiring said.
