Van Breda trial de­layed

THE TRIAL of 22-year-old Henri van Breda was yes­ter­day post­poned to to­mor­row in the Western Cape High Court as his de­fence ad­vo­cate was un­able to at­tend pro­ceed­ings. The court was told that ad­vo­cate Pi­eter Botha’s son was in hospi­tal. Van Breda has been charged with killing his par­ents and his el­der brother at their De Zalze Es­tate home in Stel­len­bosch in Jan­uary 2015. He also faces a charge of at­tempted mur­der for the at­tack on his sis­ter. He has pleaded not guilty and is out on R100 000 bail. Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tor War­rant Of­fi­cer Andre Hitch­cock is due to be cross-ex­am­ined. – ANA
