Cy­ber at­tack tar­gets Honda

JA­PANESE car man­u­fac­turer Honda sus­pended the pro­duc­tion of ve­hi­cles at its plant in Sayama af­ter it faced a cy­ber at­tack last week, lo­cal me­dia re­ported yes­ter­day. Ac­cord­ing to the Asahi Shim­bun news­pa­per, the cy­ber at­tack tar­geted the com­pany’s sys­tem of man­age­ment of man­u­fac­tur­ing lines, in­fect­ing it with a ran­somware on Sun­day and forc­ing the com­pany to halt pro­duc­tion at the Sayama plant. The news­pa­per said the com­pany was able to re­sume the ac­tiv­i­ties of the sys­tem by Tues­day. The is­sue of cy­ber at­tacks has be­come top­i­cal in re­cent months ow­ing to the grow­ing num­ber of hack­ing ac­tiv­i­ties around the world. – Sput­nik
