Zambia market gutted
ZAMBIA’S biggest market has burnt down, destroying the livelihood of many traders.
City Market, in the capital Lusaka, had been on fire since the early hours of yesterday.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to police spokeswoman Esther Katongo and Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba.
Destruction of the market has left many traders in despair as they have lost most of their goods and hence their livelihoods.
“How wilI I feed my family now because this is all I depend on for survival?” Loveness Banda told the BBC. Onlookers suspect the fire could have been caused by an electrical fault. ANA
