Temer associate held
A FORMER minister in the administration of Brazilian President Michel Temer has been arrested on charges of trying to obstruct probes into corruption.
Geddel Vieira Lima was arrested on Monday following testimony by moneychanger Lucio Funaro, a member of Temer’s Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, and revelations in plea bargains by meatpacking company executives, admitting to bribing government officials to overlook health and safety standard violations.
Vieira Lima is blamed for trying to prevent other corruption and tax evasion suspects from striking plea bargains. Xinhua
