Celebrating street culture

The Star Early Edition - - NEWS -

THE FIRST ANNUAL Street Culture Festival will bring all things urban to one place.

The headline acts will be A$AP Ferg and Nasty C.

“The street culture scene in South Africa has never been this big, yet the industry lacks a safe and family friendly event that brings all these street culture elements together in one place,” said Sportscene spokesman, Jonathan Muir.

Officially called the Capsule Fest, the aim is to offer a platform that celebrates street culture in all its forms – from urban culture brands, artists, designers and influencers, to the consumer.

The festival will include activities like a charity celebrity basketball tournament, skate park, brand pop-up stores, art installations, customising booths, a beer garden and a food village, a gaming area and a VIP deck. The concert will feature more than 30 local acts – DJs and artists – and two music stages.

The main stage will be for established artists, while the smaller stage will be for up-andcoming acts. Tickets start at R150 and can be bought at certain Sportscene stores. – Staff Reporter
