Rwanda to lead AU
AMID efforts to make the AU financially independent and calls for greater continental co-operation, Rwanda has been elected as the next leader of the bloc for 2018, replacing Guinea. It will be the first time that Rwanda will be leading the AU.
A major theme for the session that just concluded was stressing collaboration and unity among African countries. Rwanda spearheaded a financing reform proposal for the AU at the annual session of its Assembly which concluded in Addis Ababa. The goal is to transform the pan-African organisation into a financially independent body, reducing dependency on partners. – teleSUR
