Se­rial rape sus­pect held

PO­LICE have ar­rested a man who they sus­pect may be re­spon­si­ble for at least 10 rapes in Kag­iso on the West Rand in the last eight months. Po­lice spokesper­son Colonel Lun­gelo Dlamini said the sus­pect ap­peared in the Kag­iso Mag­is­trate’s Court yes­ter­day on charges of rape and rob­bery. His case was post­poned to Novem­ber 2. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, most of the vic­tims were ap­proached at Park Sta­tion taxi rank and the sus­pect would travel with them to Tshep­isong and then rape them in an open field not far from a lo­cal fac­tory. This would hap­pen in the af­ter­noon and early evenings on Fri­days and Satur­days. Most of the vic­tims were also robbed of cell­phones and cash. – ANA
