ANYONE attempting to drive or park in the Walk The Talk-restricted area during the time of the event on Sunday will have their vehicle towed away and will have to pay a R2 600 fine to have it released.

This was a stern warning from Joburg metro police spokesperson Edna Mamonyane who confirmed that all the routes where the 702 Walk the Talk takes place will be closed off.

She said the vehicles would not be allowed on the routes for the safety of the participants. “Those not taking part in the walk must try and avoid the Emmarentia area,” she said.

“The routes will be closed early… as people will get to the starting point about 6am,” added Mamonyane.

She stressed that police officers would be ensuring that the safety and rules of the walk were being followed and obeyed by all motorists.

All drivers were cautioned from attempting to break any of the rules because they would face a heavy fine.
