US Nicaragua move

The Star Early Edition - - WORLD -

THE US Committee on Foreign Relations was set to discuss a bill known as the Nicaraguan Investment Conditionality Act yesterday and is seeking to add conditions to the provision of aid from international financial institutions to the country.

Nicaragua currently relies on foreign funds for 70% of its budget. If approved, the bill would have to be sanctioned by US President Donald Trump. But US Ambassador to Nicaragua, Laura Dogu, said that the Trump administration has “noted which countries support Venezuela” and added that Managua “does not have many friends in Washington”. – teleSUR
