MTN wins ‘Most Valu­able Brand’ award

MTN has scooped the cov­eted 2017 Brand Fi­nance Most Valu­able Brand with a brand val­u­a­tion of R40 bil­lion. MTN re­ceived the award last week at an event hosted by Brand South Africa in part­ner­ship with Brand Fi­nance and Brand Africa. The plat­form is used to recog­nise the com­mer­cial value of brands and ac­knowl­edge com­pa­nies that have en­hanced their brand value over the past year. Ma­pula Bodibe, ex­ec­u­tive for con­sumer busi­ness at MTN SA, said: “We are hum­bled to be ranked once again as the most valu­able brand in South Africa. This award mir­rors mar­ket con­fi­dence in MTN and it’s en­cour­ag­ing that our ef­forts in trans­form­ing cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence and driv­ing busi­ness growth are be­ing recog­nised.” Kings­ley Makhubela, chief ex­ec­u­tive of Brand South Africa, said com­mer­cial brands were a key driver of a strong na­tion brand and how this was ex­pe­ri­enced by both do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional au­di­ences. “Com­mer­cial brands are key mes­sen­gers in po­si­tion­ing the coun­try com­pet­i­tively,” he said. – Sandile Mchunu
