Heineken beats profit fore­cast

HEINEKEN, the world’s sec­ond-largest brewer, re­ported first-half profit that beat an­a­lyst es­ti­mates, helped by warm sum­mer weather in Europe and grow­ing de­mand for more ex­pen­sive beers in Asia. Ad­justed op­er­at­ing profit rose 5.9 per­cent to €1.81 bil­lion (R27.65bn), the Am­s­ter­dambased com­pany said yes­ter­day. An­a­lysts ex­pected €1.75bn. “We de­liv­ered strong re­sults in the first half year, with all four re­gions con­tribut­ing pos­i­tively to or­ganic growth in vol­ume, rev­enue and op­er­at­ing profit,” Chief ex­ec­u­tive JeanFran­cois van Boxmeer said. – Bloomberg
