US bombs kill civilians
DAMASCUS: At least 31 civilians were killed over the past 24 hours in Syria’s northern city of Raqqa in intensified US-led air strikes on Islamic State (IS) positions.
Nine women and 14 children were among those killed in the air strikes on Raqqa, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The death toll is likely to rise due to the large numbers of critically injured people.
The attack is the latest by the US-led coalition stepping up air strikes on IS positions in the jihadists’ main stronghold in Raqqa.
