Washington threat slammed
MEXICO CITY: Latin American countries have strongly condemned a US threat of military intervention against Venezuela.
Despite criticising what it views as a breakdown of democracy in Venezuela, Peru said it rejected any kind of threats or use of force unauthorised by the UN and called for dialogue among related parties.
US President Donald Trump on Friday threatened that he would not rule out a “military option” in Venezuela.
His remarks came amid escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas over Venezuela’s newelected legislative body, the National Constituent Assembly.
Colombia, Mexico and Bolivia joined in criticising the US threat of military action.
