ANCYL wants Motsoeneng for president

The Star Late Edition - - LETTERS - Brackendowns

THE ANC Women’s League seems to have set its heart on Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as the next president. Cosatu, on the other hand, has backed Cyril Ramaphosa.

These seem to be worthy candidates at first glance. Both have paid their dues. Both are more deserving than the present incumbent.

The members of the ANC Youth League have not yet made up their minds. They say they are not going to back either of them. These two aren’t radical enough for their taste. They have someone else in mind.

ANCYL president Collen Maine hints that the candidate it will endorse will send shock waves through the party.

The ANCYL always seems to be on a different page to the older members of the party. It has previously indicated that the ANC needs a younger person – a person who’ll start distributing wealth more evenly. Obviously someone with a magic wand and the right muti.

At this point I need to offer my own prediction on who its choice will be. I think that its intention is to nominate the “Wizard of Fawlty Towers”, none other than Hlaudi (I’m the greatest) Motsoeneng. In December, the league said he should be chosen as a cabinet minister. They love him.

If you thought that everyone in this country saw through the skulduggery of Hlaudi, think again. There is still a group of youngsters who feel that he is the type of person the ANC needs to transform the country, just like he “transformed” the SABC.

When a new buffoon hits the scene, he will always attract the ignorant, the irrational and the illogical among us. It happens.

Remember, several years ago Julius Malema said he would kill for Zuma?

I think history may repeat itself. What if Maine says he is prepared to kill for Motsoeneng? This is what nightmares are made of. I hope I’ll wake up soon. I hope I’m a bad prophet. Robert Bradfield
