Moms celebrated at event
MISS Soweto, Busisiwe Mmotla, won’t let any moment pass to celebrate her mother.
At an all-white brunch to honour the heroes, Mmotla said she was grateful to spend the day with women who had raised a nation.
“Being at this event is so inspiring. White Star and Move! put together an amazing event and we’re grateful for the platform to celebrate our mothers – an opportunity to show our appreciation for their love and sacrifices,” Mmotla said.
The main speakers for the day were magazine editor, Nonzwakati Cekete, radio personality Dudu “Lady D” Khoza and Mmotla, who spoke about the roles that their mothers and grandmothers had played in their
lives, as well as their own experiences of motherhood.
Also in attendance were actresses Manaka Ranaka and Thandy Matlaila, and a few ex-holders of the crown. Guests were accompanied by the mother figure in their lives, while Jazz artist and budding DJ, Wanda Baloyi, was on the decks entertaining.
“I’m so grateful for the
opportunity to attend this event with my aunt who took me under her wing when I first came to Johannesburg 10 years ago. She’s been a second mother to me and has supported me through everything. Spending the day with her and her idol Dudu Khoza means everything to me. I’ll cherish this memory,” Nolwazi Magula, who won tickets to attend the event, said.
“Mother’s Day is important to the White Star brand because the majority of our consumer base are moms. We partnered with Move! magazine to create a platform to show our love and appreciation for them. We’re happy to have given our consumers and Move! readers a wonderful experience with their loved ones and favourite celebrities,” White Star marketing manager Mokhele Makhothi said.
