Missing at Sona – showstoppers
Glamour couple, Gigabas, conspicuous by their absence
THE red carpet was rolled out in Parliament last night with most that graced the opening of the House dressed to kill.
Though there were no show stoppers, there were dresses that wowed like Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s gold gown with a train. Se was dressed by Bonolo Mashilo of BMashiloDesigns.
Gold was a hit with DA MP Phumzile van Damme also among those that showed up in a glittery gold dress and matching head wrap.
University of Cape Town vice-chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng, ANC MP Matthew Wolmarans’ wife Lillian and former president Kgalema Motlanthe’s wife Gugu Mtshali were also dazzling.
Media personality and businesswoman Carol Bouwer was the lady in a beautiful red gown.
It would seem the couple that always brought glitz and glamour to this event, former home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba and his wife Norma, were no where to be seen.
Twitter missed them on the red carpet.

Minister of Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe, known for oversized suits, arrived wearing a black one that was a “perfect fit”.
