Polo’s allure to draw new crowds
BE BOLD. Be You. Be Polo – that is today’s theme for Allure’s lifestyle marquee at the Rosefield Polo Club in Gauteng.
The impressive Allure Lounge is a marriage of supreme leisure and lifestyle.
Bonnke Shipalana – the brains behind the exciting concept – says that #BeBold speaks to Africans who are exploring new lifestyle spaces such as polo, while remaining true to what defines people as “Kings and Queens of Africa”.
“The Allure Lounge concept, #BeBold, is designed to inspire and invite spectators to experience the Polo Series.
“It encompasses not only appropriate fashion but also premium beverages and entertainment in a relaxed and authentic atmosphere that characterises the fusion of all South Africans into a space that has always been perceived as traditionally reserved for the elite.
“While having a good time and enjoying oneself is certainly one element, Allure is using it as a platform to enlighten a new audience that has not previously had exposure to the sport about everything it encompasses, from the rules, etiquette and fashion to the traditions of the game.
“It is also a great network to expose South Africans to various economic avenues available within the polo sport,” says Shipalana.
The Allure lifestyle marquee will be hosted today at the 110th Prince of Wales Polo Cup, where the ultimate match of the series will see the South African and Kenyan polo teams going head to head at the Rosefield Polo Club.
The match is viewed to be symbolic because the level of the sport’s popularity in South Africa has not been fast paced, as compared to the rest of the continent, particularly East and West Africa.
The day will wrap up with the Polo Series after-party hosted by South Africa’s finest DJs. It rounds off beautiful views, wonderful surroundings and endless opportunities under the Gauteng sun.
