A blend of winter wonder

WINTER desserts are great on their own and adding a sherry or port makes it just a little better.

The De Krans Original Espresso is the winter drink that brings together two winter staples – port and coffee.

Contrary to its name, no coffee beans are used in the wine. The wine is matured in heavy-toasted oak, leaving a coffee after-taste.

As the cold sets in, this espresso with a kick can be paired with crème brûlée or other sweet winter desserts.

Pippa Pringle from De Krans says: “The beauty of port style wines is their incredible versatility in where and when to use them… the idea of serving port chilled, with crushed ice, or using it as a cocktail mixer (means) that port could indeed be enjoyed throughout the year.”

The wine can also be enjoyed as a martini, as shared by De Krans Bistro and Deli manager, Shannon Botes.
