Did you hear the one about the giraffes?

The Times (South Africa) - - The Things You Need To Know Today News -

A very rare white giraffe and calf have been photographed in Kenya.

Local residents tipped off game rangers who tracked down the animals in Hirola Conservancy in Kenya’s Garissa county. It is only the third white giraffe sighting in the region.

The reticulated giraffes suffer from leucism, which inhibits pigmentation. Unlike with albinism, animals produce pigment in soft tissue, hence the dark eyes and other colouring.
