Dirty tricks on Ramaphosa backfired spectacularly

The Times (South Africa) - - Opinion&letters -

● The headline in Wednesday’s Times – “JZ stronghold breached’’ — is a clear setback for Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, whose election might have protected President Jacob Zuma from facing 783 corruption charges.

The court case reversing the election that favoured a Zuma acolyte has exposed the fraud used to maintain a support base for the Zuma faction.

Other provinces will be checking the direction of the wind, which looks as though it is favouring Cyril Ramaphosa.

There is bound to be panic in the Zuma camp; the smear campaign against the deputy president has had minimal effect.

In fact, if anything, it has bolstered his image. - Ted O’Connor, Albertskroon
