Batista Pininfarina’s little-known sixties concept car goes on auction with Barret Jackson, ‘the world’s greatest collector car auctions’ on Saturday. With its four wheels arranged in a diamond shape, the tiny aerodynamic four-seater Pininfarina-X has a drag coefficient of 0,23, indicating that Pininfarina was a long way ahead of the rest of the world in exploring the critical area of aerodynamics, long before it was fashionable. To create the slippery shape, Pininfarina placed the wheels in a diamond shape instead of on each corner, with the small engine slanted between the centre rear wheel and side wheel.
