‘ Decadence’

BLUNT Productions is staging the Burlesque- era music revue Decadence ( pictured), at Seabrooke’s Theatre at Durban High School from today until February 25. The show follows the journey of Anastasia, a beautiful young dancer who has always enjoyed playing the line between being a model performer on the straight and narrow, and giving in to her darker desires. She soon attracts the attention of two legendary dancers: Cecilia, who is prim, proper, respectable and believes in all that is deemed morally appropriate; and Jocasta, who believes in seduction and manipulation to get her way and isn’t too worried about what other people may think. Anastasia then becomes the subject of a bet to see which school of thought is better in the dance world. Along the way, both sides tempt, dupe, sway and convince Anastasia into picking their side. Performances of Decadence are at 7 pm, and 2 pm on February 21. Tickets are R100 online through webtickets and the show is suitable for high- school pupils.
