THE Hereford Group, the largest independent financial services group in the country, has moved office from Pietermaritzburg’s CBD to Chatterton Road.

Director Robin McIntosh said the need to merge his franchise Seculink, came about due to an increase in staff numbers and the need for more space, and it was time for bespoke offices that suit the branding needs of the company.

The new offices, adjacent to the Royal Showgrounds, have an open- plan layout with space for the existing 40 financial advisers, brokers, secretaries and staff.

The Hereford Group’s services include corporate and employee benefits, investment management, personal financial management and planning, short- term insurance, broker support services and total health- care solutions.

The company also offers career opportunities for entrepreneurial- minded individuals with full in- house training and a mentorship programme for all new advisers.

Hereford was established in the Liberty Life franchise space in 1995 and is now a full national distribution partner of the Liberty Group. It comprises 21 national shareholders who all participate actively in the management of the group.

Apart from Pietermaritzburg, Hereford has 11 branches nationally, including Johannesburg, Cape Town and George, as well as branches in Umhlanga, Kloof, Margate and Ballito.

McIntosh said part of the reason why the company has grown successfully and has been able to expand since its establishment is because it has always understood that one person cannot realistically offer a professional service in all fields of financial services, particularly given the ever- broadening complexity and range of financial services products.

“If there is a specific requirement, we prefer to schedule an expert in the field to see the client for however long it takes … We recognise the value of an industry specialist,” said McIntosh.

Assisting McIntosh with the management of the local branch are shareholders Rinier Bosman and Martin Godfrey.
