KZNPO’S SUMMER SEASON STARTS TODAY
THE KwaZulu- Natal Philharmonic Orchestra starts its 2015 World Symphony Series summer season at 7.30 pm tomorrow in the Durban City Hall.
American- Israeli conductor Daniel Boico will be conducting the orchestra as they perform Barber’s The School for Scandal: Overture; Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor; and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 ( Winter Dreams).
The soloist is Israeli- born pianist Aviram Reichart, who won the bronze medal in 1997 in the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
He has toured the world performing with orchestras on five continents.

Subscription bookings are available at 0861 915 8000. • The final rehearsals for the symphony’s summer season concerts are on Thursdays at 10 am in the city hall and are open to the public and provide a glimpse into the preparation for a symphony concert. Tickets are R30 ( R10 pupils), which includes a cup of tea. • There will be a pre- concert lecture, hosted by the Friends of Music, in the Playhouse Alhambra Room from 6.15 pm to 7 pm tonight.
