New Pug shows its nose
THE parking lot at Granny Mouse in the Midlands last week had a parking lot filled with the model that won Europe’s Car of 2014.
They were the Peugeot 308, two models of which the French car maker has now launched in South Africa, both with 1.2 engines dubbed 110 and 130. The 1.2 PureTech Active has a three-cylinder, quad-valve, turbocharged engine making 81 kW at 5 500 rpm and 205 Nm at 1 500 rpm, using a five-speed manual gearbox.
The 130 engine in the 308 GT Line makes 96kW at 5 500 rpm and 240 Nm from 1 750 rpm through a six-speed manual gearbox.
A three-year or 100 000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a five-year or 60 000 km service plan, and a threeyear or 100 000 km roadside assistance package are standard. — WR.
