Qual­ity cat­tle im­press in­ter­na­tional judge

IN­TER­NA­TIONAL judge Car­los Ojea Rul­lan was ex­tremely im­pressed with the qual­ity of Red and Black An­gus cat tle on show at the Royal Show­grounds in Piet er­mar­itzburg on Mon­day.

A guest of the KwaZu­luNatal An­gus Club, Rul­lan, who comes from Ar­gentina, has 10 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence judg­ing the br eed around the world.

Speak­ing t o the br eed­ers, he said the y could be proud of their an­i­mals and that he would love to take some of those he’ d seen in the ring b ack to his Sur an­gus R anch in South Amer­ica.

Not­ting­ham Road­based In­ver­mooi Stud did ex­tremely well in the Royal Show com­pe­ti­tion, com­ing away with the ti­tle of Gr and Cham­pion An­gus on Sho w for their Black An­gus cow Copelands Beef Miss CBC 08376, and the Re­serve to the Grand Cham­pion, a Red An­gus (Black Mamba Foxy Lady 2DE). Miss CBC had ear­lier been named se­nior cow cham­pion.

The stud, owned by Paul Coetzee, also had the se­nior cham­pion An­gus bull on show, Ep­worth Mag­nif­i­cent.

Breeder and lead­ing trans­plant sur­geon Dr Rob Klein­loog, of N ether­wood An­gus Stud in N ot­ting­ham R oad, c on­tin­ued the Mid­lands su ccess w hen his bull, N ether­wood Zap­per, w as named the R es­erve Gr and Cham­pion on sho w.

The Grand Cham­pion and ju­nior cham­pion bull w as Water­val New Zaid, o wned by the WAF Trust based in Clo­colan in the Free State; and the Shant on Stud in the D ar­gle took home the prizes for cham­pion heifer calf for Shan­ton KHC 150022 and cham­pion ju­nior fe­male for Shan­ton KHC 1 40018.
